Perhaps a picture thread for the Carnival would be interesting to see from a cultural point of view, rather than religious itself.

In the US, Carnival on Fat Tuesday is synonymous with New Orleans, Louisiana.
A few other cities may have celebrations, but nobody puts on Mardi Gras festivities like this southern City, steeped in French colonialism. Parade & PARTY Central for days!

Well, our equivalent of New Orleans is then the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), which is of course, the most important and recognized from South America.
But IMHO the Carnival from Rio is too commercial, done to attract tourists. I prefer more authentic carnivals such as those of the North of Argentina and those from Bolivia. Where you can still see the mixture between the Spanish and indigenous culture.

Games with water during the day, dance costumes during the nights. Thus was the Carnival of 30 or 40 years ago.
I thought it would be interesting to ask here how the Carnival is celebrated in your place in the world.
