..well i will not repeat here the things we all know about drugs. I 've read in a scientific journal that drugs are not addictive the way smoke is...They say that drugs bind in the DNA bases so it's almost impossible for the addictive person to recover. And methadone doesn't do much. So i believe that they should try other methods to help people recover.
as a nurse very experienced with detoxing clients i felt inclined to comment. There are new alternatives to methadone now which are showing remarkable success. Also the most important part in addiction recovery is working a program for the mental aspects of the disease.
And the big question is if the mental state is affected by chemical actions. Because how can you help someone whose organism is addicted to a drug like this?
sabaxone is a newer drug, its very harsd to get approved for the program because it is very costly. It contains opiate antagonist and receptors & works in "layers" easing the withdrawl,by soothing the receptors and at same time helps reduce them. I had a client, hard core..17 yr addiction to heroin, lifetiem addiction to presscriptions, he got on the program & has been clean for a yr so far.
Well, being a chemist myself, i can't believe they can't find a drug that binds in the receptors and then carried away...I think they don't give money for research on this subject.
its a proven fact that all addictions effect the chemicals in our body that effect our mind. If they didnt then there would be no high. Prolonged users live with depression which is often permanent due to the damage to the brain. Its also proven its not enogh to just leave your common stomping grounds, too much going on internally. Detox is step 1, actually the easiest step of all. the true recovery process is life long, always keeping yourself healthy as possible mentally & physically to help reduce the risk of a relapse
i know, i detoxed him 4 times in 3 yrs, he had been to over 30 different treatment centers & failed. The last time i detoxed him, it was a 5 day detox & we kept him 3 wks until he could start the program, he drove us crazy, lol, but we are all glad we went out on a limb for him now.
I am clean for over a year while taking Methadone. It saved my life. I was horribly addicted to opiates for 20 years. I realize that I must now ween myself off of the Methadone and I have been doing that for months now.
Do you not find the meth to be worse then the opiates?
I have never been able to figure out why while one is on the methand say taking 4mils and doing fine that one finds it nessacary to increase one to 6mils,7mils,8mils and so on and so forth.......To me,its another way of the goverment having control.......Just my 3 cents though
Worse than the opiates? No, the Methadone goes to the receptors in the brain and have the same effect as an opiate minus the euphoric feeling. It satisfies your desire for the opiates so you will no longer take them.
methadone is a far worse detox than other opiates. Takes on average a yr to get off it. The difference with tghe gov being involved, those who are addicts can get it legally, dont have to go to the streets for heroin, etc. Like anything it has a dark side to it also, misuse, tolerence developes, it feeds the initial addiction to opiates rather than wean it. But I would rather see a love one taking that than shooting up a drug that god only knows what its been cut with!
No, drugs don't bind to DNA bases, whoever wrote that has no idea about DNA. Drugs interact with proteins in your body whether it be brain tissue or fat. It doesn't have any effect on your DNA per say but it does have some reaction with your brain.
