Edgar wrote some really good work. The Raven, The Pit and the Pendulum, Annabel Lee, and others. "Quoth the raven nevermore". I especially liked Annabel Lee.

"I was a child and she was a child in this kingdom by the sea..."

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love
I and my Annabel Lee
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! - that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee

I loved Poe back in High School, because for a kid with hormones all crazy, he really spoke to me. Nowadays it dosn't affect me as much, but I still really love his work.

Theres a computer game out there somewheres based on Poe's writing. Its sort of like an interactive book, where you can participate in the stories. Like one where you have to take care of an old man, kill him and bury his heart before the police come. And its call done in claymation so everything looks warped and freaky.

If you like all that, you should see my 600 page collection of poetry that I wrote about one girl! I'm still to scared to ask her out..I think she has a BF. I can't even bring myself to give her the book either. Damn that manliness!

I have a lot of stuff published, but nothing so close to my heart. I know nobody in their right minds would read my normal stories, but I can't help but think "what if this gets popular!? I'll either be called a romantic, stalker or a whimp!"

But whats the fun in chasing girls without boyfriends? Its fun to act more manly than their "men" lol

Allen, I loved the "Tell, Tale, Heart" one that you mention. Being a person with a creative and overactive imagination, I was spellbound hearing the story read in class. I was so into that I oh, no, I am going to get caught and like the character just get it over with and catch me, lol. I mean the building suspense and paranoia was beyong belief. :)

Nene, that is how I felt about that story, too. :)

Yeah, a lot of gloom and doom to him. Although, his stuff was on the downer side, he was reported to a have a perfect poem in the form of compostion. The Fall of the House of Usher was a real trip, lol.

I loved that movie with Vincent Price. I never read it tho, so don't really know if it stuck with the story or not. But I love Vincent's movies anyway, so it really wouldn't bring it down any.

I wish there were more writers who would make stories like he did. Nowadays all horror novels have gay vampires whining and crying about being immortal or thrillers that only take a night to read.

Cool! I'll check them out! I know one of my fav authors, Stephen King, dosn't write horror anymore, just sort of rantings that are thousands of pages long! lol

Vincent Price's Mr. Phibes, awesome. And Vanavia who Phibes tries to revived, beyond words. Clive Barker, cool. Peirs Anthony's Firefly really interesting reading. Peirs normally did fantasy but Peirs and Stephen King tried to do a swap. Stephen King did a fantasy and Peirs Anthony did a scary one.

Ohh, thats one of my favs as well! The Black House was pretty good too, but not as good as the origonal. I loved the Gunslinger series too, until he came out with the newer books and made them more boring. He even put himself in the books too, which made me not like it even more. He totally ruined his own masterpeice.

Allen, the way you describe King reminds of the song by Carly Simon that was reported by a dj to be about Mick Jaggar of the Rollings Stones called "You're so vane", lol.
Love the words, "You're so vane you eventhink this song is about you", lol.
