this was on the news last week......

there is a couple with a severally handicapped daughter...her brain will never go beyond 3 months of age......

she is paralyzed and needs 24 hour care.......her parents and other children are doing it all by themselves.......

their daughter is now coming into puberty age and they have givin her a total hysterectomy, removed her breast buds (so her breasts won't grow) and have started her on estrogen treatments to stunt her growth (to keep her small so she is easier to lift)....

was this the 'right' thing to do?...would you do this?

I saw this story and one of the reasons they done this is like you say so she is easier to lift, They call her the pillow angel as she spends most of her time laying down on the pillow, I think what they done is wrong, Without sounding cruel the kid dont have and will never have a life and i find that hard to think about death would be better i know that sounds bad but surely the angel will move onto a better place, I ride big bikes and my family have been told by myself if i do have a big one and end up on life support never to walk and brain damaged i want that machine swithed offwine

she is not on life suppport, she is just paralyzed, but cannot do anything without assistance, she will live on........this si why her parents say they did what they did......the story is on cbc newsworld, i would send a link but that goes against CS rules so you have to google.

her parents state, that it makes things easier for the family to take care of her.....they will not require outside help if she does not grow, if she stays small they can still lift her.

I would care for her. She is still a person. (i do this in my job)
If i couldnt handle it for whatever reason, emotional/financial/physically i would get her the best group home i could find in my area so i could visit whenever i wanted. A group home that values normalization and quality of life.

I thought those days were over and done with.....kinda makes me think of the movie......THE ELEPHANT MAN.....(a circus act)

Let nature take it's course if it is meant for her to go to heaven, let it.....

while she's here, let the parents' do the best they can to make sure her life is worthwhile......and give her dignity.......
