Don't know whether it's winter blues but I'm starting to get to a stage where I can't be bothered to go out and it's a really great effort to get out of the door. I go food shopping once a week, work on my writing at home and do jobs about the house but really have lost the incentive to go out anywhere apart from taking the kids to schools and clubs. The kids are all more of less independent so they go places and 'don't do the family thing' as the older ones put it - well, they're teenagers and they all go through that stage. I haven't got money to spend so there's little reason to go round the shops and anyway ebay is often the cheapest place if I need anything for the kids or house. The people around here are not one to ask you in for coffee or accept your many invitations for coffee. Thought about college courses during the day but our local college doesn't often have funded places and there's no way I can afford to pay vast amounts. My sister-in-law suggested the library, but I can't bear the thought of sitting in the library all day being quiet I can do that at home. Can't go back to work yet because I'm still recovering after a very long illness and my doctor has strongly recommended that I wait to at least the Summer. The problem is I'm starting to think I'm becoming a hermit as I prefer to stay at home lately - not my usual character as I was never in!!! I wouldn't say I was depressed just feel more comfortable inside the four walls - so what do you think? Winter blues? And will it pass as soon as spring is here?? Any suggestions if it is winter blues how to combat it apart from popping pills from the doctor - I've started taking St Johns Wort to see if that'll help but am open to any good suggestions - I want my life back!!!!!!

I did think that! But then I thought about when I can go back to work and how unfair it will be on a dog. My dog died last year and although I miss her I used to feel so guilty if I was out all day and she was stuck indoors by herself. So I don't think it would be fair on another dog, especially with the size of our garden - it's a tiny mainly concrete yard and although dogs need long walks I feel they also need a nice sized backgarden - the same as little children do! Any more suggestions cos I am listening!

I hate winter, always feel tired - it is something to do with it still being dark when you leave the house and dark when you come home.

It isn't healthy to miss out on day light!

I feel like I should be a bear cos then I could hybernate

yeah, that's how I feel. The kids keep having to wake me up in the morning for school - it's always been round the other way. Thinking about it we haven't had any of that usual winter sun where we are - you know when the sky is blue and bright sun but you're freezing your wotsits off. Maybe that's it! I might have to look at getting a light box or something.

I've never felt like it before but I don't think we've had a winter like this as far as I can remember - we've always had some winter sun by now but it's been grey and overcast for months here and the wind and damp gets me down a bit. Well there's only one thing for it - who wants to treat mismessier and I to a fortnight in the bahamas????????

I thought that because I walk to school with just my hoodie on some days but there isn't much light - I have to put my lights on indoors all day - I've even put voiles up at the window with blinds behind that go right out of the way to make the room a bit lighter but it's still so dull. I still think two weeks in the bahamas will do us both good!

Englandz course you can, we'll need someone to carry out luggage! So now we need three tickets please - and if the person who buys them for us is really nice to us we'll even let them join us!!!

What you complaining about - I don't intend to take much luggage - part of a good holiday is obviously the holiday shopping!

Now that's a difficult one! I will try not to give into temptation but let me know where you set up your tent just in case!
