Usually the emails are for more hardware or for new titles being added to whichever channels.
Add Pluto and Tubi ‘channels’ , they’re free, have tons of movies and tv series all for free, with a few commercials. Pluto has lots of classic films that your dad would probably prefer over the latest dreck that Hollywood is pimping.
If the remote has the microphone (mic button) he can voice search by title, genre or even actor. If not, the smart phone app has the voice search.

Funny you mentioned both those aspects.
The two channels have been added to his main.
I found he activated speech reader that talked and talked over every show, more applicable to a low vision disability.And disabled it.
It did not do what I hoped, you described what feature was preferable instead but we let him explore.

I started blocking some and favoring others for him.
The only downside might be emails trying to sell me their upscale options that are all paid viewing.
