My two teenage sons are interested in being car mechanics. They are looking at going to WyoTech in Wyoming. Have any of you been to that school or hired someone from there? It sounds awesome, but I would like to hear from people with some experience with it.

Of course my boys won't be coming back to Midland Texas to work when they become mechanics, so if there's any available car mechanics out there in my age range, I sure will need one after my boys leave home!

They want to open a 'mudding lot' with a repair shop on the grounds, and a specialty shop to build mudding vehicles. Popular thing to do for guys out here. Is that a guy thing elsewhere, or just a macho texan thing?

As aa shop owner I was impressed with WyoTech when I saw there ads on TV and such so I called the school and talked to their student referal department and they set up 8 interviews for me. I was quite dissapointed with the quality of ther graduates. I eventually hired a graduate from there to work in my race car fabrication shop about 2 years ago. I can't even say that this young man new the bare essentials. He was unable to perform even minimal task without others and would certainly be unable to operate a shop of his own such as what you are talking about for your sons. There are much better opions for automotive schools. Trying to tell you much here would take up to much space on the forrums but if you'll send me an email I'll explain more.
