He has a point, religion has been the cause of more wars than everything else, combined!

I don't think it's the actual reliions that cause the problems though, it's the people that think everyone else should believe the same they do!

If you want to believe in God or whatever then fine, just don't shove it down everone else's throats, problem solved!

I don't really tend to think alot about religion, but I guess it's not fair to get a baby christened, as I see it as forcing your views upon someone? After all, people can get christened at any age, in other words, leave it up to the individual. q=o)

What we call the 'Old Testament' is the time of waiting for the Messiah, Christ, to come (about 2,000 years from Abraham's time to the time of Christ).

The Jews had to wait this time, because they had a great deal to learn before they were ready to receive the Messiah; and indeed, as we know, when the Messiah did come, only a chosen few of the Jewish people (such as Mary, the Apostles, and Paul) recognized him, just as all through their history, only a few had recognized the prophets as coming from God, those few being called 'the remnant'. wave

I think that people should be left to believe in who or what ever feels right for them, no religion should have the right force others into their way of thinking. It's a matter of free will.

I think your brother is wrong. Wars are caused, not by religion, but by the sins of men. scold

You are absolutely right, each religious group is a cult intent on brainwashing people into their way of thinking thumbs up Hard for me to decide which one I hate the most but guess it would have to be the "jehovah bunch" thumbs down thumbs down thumbs down

I refused to have mine christened. I felt the need to protect them from any form of brainwashing or cult behaviours - they have all thanked me for this

I also did the same with my son and he's grateful to me too. Anyway, it would have been hypocrisy to have him christened when I'm not a religious person anyway so that was another reason I didn't have him christened.

Did you refuse to have them educated?
Did you refuse to teach them good manners?
Did you refuse to bring them to the doctor when they were ill?
Did you refuse to teach them how to swim?
Did you refuse to allow them to read books/
Did you refuse to allow them to go to movies?
Did you refuse to allow them to join a youth club, or a youth movement like the scouts or guides?
etc., etc., etc.,
