Almost all my heroes and heroines are scientists.
Almost all scientists are my heroes and heroines.
To me one of the greatest things that humans possesses is the ability to think rationally, even though the masses don’t seem to cultivate this ability very well. Nor do they seem to appreciate it very much, outside of the fact that they greedily take technology for granted and are quick to complain when it doesn’t work property.
Why is the world better because of scientists? Well technology is the obvious answer, although mankind has greedily abused technology too, so it may not always be apparent why it *can* be used for good.
However, even beyond the technology scientists have shown us our place in the universe. They have shown us beyond any reasonable doubt that we have evolved from the universe. They have shown us without any doubt at all that we are not at the center of the universe. They have shown us that we live in a universe that contains billions upon billions upon billions of other galaxies.
They have shown us how stupid our superstitions are, yet the bulk of humanity continue to believe superstitions and basically run their lives on it, as well as their wars.
Scientists are my heroes and heroines.

2. Dalaï Lama.
The government Tibetan declared that the next Dalaï Lama will be born in China and will be chosen by China. The Dalaï Lama affirmed that it would not be born again in China if the situation is the same that today, because it doesn't want to be submitted to the Chinese authority.
His name is already a Peace Symbol...
3. Abbé Pierre (a Priest who vowed all his life to fight for the poor, excluded, refugees and homeless persons)
"On my tomb, instead flowers and crowns, bring me the lists of thousands of families, of thousands of small children to which you will be able to have given the keys of a true lodging. "
"I see blooming with blinding smallest flower on this dungheap that is the humanity."
He is a humanity lesson for me...

My heroes are as wide and varied as the rainbow.
Everyone of them necessary for the innate beauty of it's perfection.
