I have a lot of pets, one is a big chicken and warms up to people eventually but my Siberian Husky - I listen to his instincts... if he is nervous about the person there has to be a reason for it...
I had a cat. Her name was Squeek and she was fat, lazy, and wouldn't let you touch her unless she wanted to be touched. I met this woman and of course the cat didn't like her, but she didn't like anybody so i didn't think much of it. This woman moved in and we would get into arguements like every couple does occasionally, and the cat would run out from under the table and bite her ankles. Well, that would end the arguement because i couldn't stop laughing.I ended up marrying that woman and putting down the cat because she wouldn't stop pissing all over our brand new house.

Well it would depend on how the pet reacted around me. Some animals need time to adjust to a new person around. Sometimes it can be jealousy if the animal is spoiled.
My cat for example. She is spoiled rotten with us. And she won't like everyone but she is also tame and will not attack anyone unless they bug her and ask for it.
For me it would all depend on how long I have been with the person and how serious the relationship is. And to what extent how animal in question is around me. If it kept attacking me and I felt it was a threat to my children then I would definatly reconsider the relationship especialy if the person who owns the animal does not take responsibility for their pets actions.
