Have any of you had any experience with infections of the face? If so, please give me some feedback.

Yesterday, I woke up with a badly swollen eye. I just let it go until my sister's prodding on the telephone made me go to the clinic. The Dr. diagnosed it as stafococil (sp?) infection and prescribed IV anti-biotics and Ibuprophen. I have to go to the clinic every day for IV anti-biotics. Today, my whole face is swollen. I asked for a different Dr.s diagnoses today at the clinic. The diagnoses remained the same. I look a mess. My glasses can't sit properly on my face because there is so much swelling.

Does anyone have experience with this? Lorraine.

Hi Kenai,

Thanks for trying to help. I don't know the correct spelling - I just spelled it the way that it sounds. Thanks anyways. L.

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, the swelling will go down. It takes most medicine at least 48-72 hours to get to the proper dose in your system. Try cold compresses not on your eye but near your eye where the swelling has spread to. Iv antibiotics are a direct route there fore you may have faster results.

Thanks Rose,

It turned out that the swelling in my face was not caused by a bacterial infection. I was taking some prescription medication and I got a sunburn on my face. It resulted in what the Specialist referred to as a Photo Toxic reaction. My whole face swoll up really badly. I am now taking some different medication to deal with the swelling. It will be some time before I look normal again. I hope that this never happens to anyone else. Lorraine.

Warm compresses.... warm water and baby shampoo, make a foam with the shampoo and water, then wash your eyes with it, then rinse.(this is advise given by opthalmologists to me.)

Staphlococci infections can be serious and contagious. Just make sure you wash your hands a lot, incase you have touched your eyes unknowingly.

Warm compresses using camomile tea or just regular tea has also been recommended (in my case). Did the Dr give you antibiotic drops for your eyes?(just curious. Swelling will go down eventually.
