I noticed
A tell-tale chill in the air
The change of wind
That heralds
An approaching storm
I watched the trees
Turn their leaves
Swaying gently
In a slow, hypnotic rythm
Mesmerized
I watched the ballet unfold
Noting each turn
Each dip
And every pirouette
Of the silent dancers
Before me
Enthralled
By the beauty of the movement
I noticed too late
That the rain had begun
I raised my eyes
Toward the weeping clouds
Through the myriad
Of their cool tears
I realized
That I had never once
Looked at the sky
