Quit smoking ( Archived) (15)

After smoking between 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day for twenty something years, I had lit the last cigarette in the pack, smoked about half of it, stubbed it out, and never touched another one for eight years. Then I went through the trauma of seperation, divorce and the ignominy of having no work. Then in 2002 I started again and was quickly back on two packs a day. A couple of weeks ago, I smoked my last cigarette again. A couple of days ago, after having a couple of beers, I tried a cigarette, felt physically sick after two puffs, & threw it away. Apart from that one momentary lapse, I have no craving for nicotine.
As with a lot of people who quit, I tend to eat more, but having been the same weight for nearly 30 years, I consider myself lucky that I just don't put on weight.

well done - I stopped 3 weeks ago - and mostly succeeded - but still got the urge when I have a drink .. so its kind of hard to eliminate all
some lovelife might be a great distraction - dont ya think so
