Too Picky?? (37)
i have been single for 3 plus yrs and yes i think i am being picky.
But coming out of a long term relationship, i am always finding out what i like, more about me, and just enjoying the single life for a bit.
I definetly wont settle for the sakes of "just" being in a relationsihip with someone.
Also, i am very involved in my two daughers care and i much rather put them first and at the top of the list then my personal life. I have lots of time to go out or whatever when there not here.
So that is why i am still single...a lot of it is by choice.
But i cannot see myself being single forever. No friggin way. For now i am content though.

Yes i think some people are to picky i myself was one of them but i guess the insight comes with age that looks aren't everything.

Yup these forums suck lately so i am just givin er.
I think when we are single long enough even though it is not the ideal it is okay and we do fine...not that we do not want to be with someone but it seems that the "need" part of being with someone fades with time.
I agree Pucks with how you have said it - I think I am extrmely picky and my son's girlfriend says I can spot dysfuntional a mile away-

I think it's ok to be picky - to a degree. If all your looking at is tall, dark and handsome - it's a narrow field. To settle for someone because you just don't like being alone - is not right.

I am very picky, and I think you have to be. You must insist on quality in every aspect of your life. People who settle for less than what they want will sadly end up unhappy, and unfulfilled.
I also think you will know when you meet that someone and there is that natural chemistry.

I tend to think I'm single 'cause i'm not picky enough.But I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with the people I've dated,or that I left people and felt unfulfilled.I think alot of people today just don't take relationships as seriously as people did in the past,then again,maybe that's just me...I tend to be ambivelent about people I date,wishy-washy in trying to gauge the relationship's meaning,I'm too thoughtful about human psychology and that can make a little too accepting.So,I'm not overly picky,and I have stayed single,so...
I don't think its a case of people being picky. I think it has more to do with people just not knowing what they want or deserve. I'm single through choice. For some it takes a while before we find the person we connect with on all levels of life. 
You have to be picky, because you don't want to settle for just anyone for fear of desperation. But you get to choose who you want, who care about you and your kids, and whatever matters most to you.

I'd say it's different in each case.Sometimes it's something that as you say 'you grow into' over time and sometimes there's just a feeling that this is the person who complements me,makes me FEEL,it feels like comming home.
Growing into deep love over time is more about learning the finer points of your partner and falling more in love with them as they are discovered.

Ok ok i know here is me again with my examples but read this cause i think it describes best what i am trying to say.
I was 23 when i met my ex and 8 months later i was married. He looked hot and said all the right things but was shallow (which i didn't know back then) I thought he was all that cause he looked so damn good and i was head over heals cause i had landed him!!
Now 10 years later i am just shaking my head on how stupid i was. I should have been more picky and figured stuff out before i jumped into the cold water of marriage.
I found a guy online. I normally don't write to people with no pics and if they are on someones fave list forget it!
But for some reason i wrote this guy because his profile sounded simple sincere and honest. It was not macho like or proud it was just simple.
We started talking and after only 2 nights on the phone for about 5 hours i thought i knew this guy all my life. We have the same interests the same likes and dislikes the same hopes and dreams for the future and we click like i have never clicked with anyone.
Up until that time i hadn't seen his pic and when he send it to me i was a little disappointed because he was not really my type but i fell for him anyhow cause he has a beautiful mind a good heart and he is the sweetest thing god has ever created in a mans body!
I think i found my soul mate honestly.

i relate and concur. i certainly dont think being picky is a bad thing. Well, unless it controls you then i could see it being bad.
