We all have a few things tucked away, like the first lock of hair or the first shoes etc.
What are some of the cool things your mom or dad saved of yours and when is the right time to bring it out?

When my youngest boy was in the sixth grade, he and I drove the hour to visit my parents. My mom went to her room and came back with my grade six school picture and an english composition notebook from grade six. It blew me away and little Casey really got a kick out of reading stories his dad wrote when he was the same age.

Anyone want to share a story like that?

My mom kept anything and everything lol.I know there's still two paper bags full of my hair from my first haircut in her bureau along with old toys and pics that she had the chance to show my girl.
As for what I've kept......umbilical cord(maybe gross to some),first suce,first outfit,heck...first everything.laugh
Have some of her art framed, all her school work and crafts, pics of her happy, pics of her sad and some to use as blackmail when she's a teen.

I go through it once a year to check it out and add to it,this keeps up I'm gonna need a bigger place.laugh

We have cases of my son's 'archives'.

I didn't save them -- my x better half was scrupulous. Very organized and methodical.

It really is archival. All labelled and boxed.

Artwork, crafts, teeth, hair, sandals that he never walked in because it was before he could walk.

Report carsd from day 1, school pics, hockey team pics, reams of school work and projects.

Tons of toys. Collections of books, the Rupert series, Narnia, Harry Potter series, and a ton of Archie comics.

Pretty soon I'm gonna need one of those cargo containers they use on container shipsrolling on the floor laughing

I have a family heirloom that has been handed down from one generation to another. Its was started by my grandfather, and then was handed down to my father when he was 16. He then in return handed to me at my 16th birthday ...... and I will then pass it to my oldest on his 16th.

Its our family crest carved in a large wood sheild. My grandfather carved it while in WW2 in the UK.

unfortunately, I do not have children however, the one thing that I did get from my mom were earrings from HER grandmother....they are FILLED with gems, diamonds, and emeralds.....and they are detachable.....

she gave them to me cause Teresa and Rosemarie were names passed on thru the generations and since my mom was named after HER grandmother and I was named after mine (rosa maria), I got them......

however, I do have art work, drawings, pictures, crafts and children-made cards that were given to me thru the years by my neices/nephews....one nephew is now 32 and I still have his personally made christmas ornament and birthday cards that he gave me when he was a wee one.......

What can I say, I am a pack rat.......

hey, maybe tru north and I can go splits on that container!????rolling on the floor laughing

Okay, people do save things but why? And when do you expect to give them to your kids?

Another time, when I got married, my mom gave my wife a little photo album of me at all ages of growing up. I thought that was a pretty cool gift. Must have made good kindling a short time later.

I've given my girl my mom's engagement ring(some say she's too young ..7)it's on a chain but so far she keeps it in her jewelery box for 'special moments'.
As for the rest of the things that I've been saving, she can have them when she's 18.
What I want to share with her as she grows up however are my mom's music books full of songs, stories and poems she wrote, those she'll get when I'm gone or I'm thinking of giving her one for a keepsake.

I hope she has a big place when she grows up.......she'll need it laugh

Oh and the most one thing that MUST remain in the family is my mom's wind up gramaphone and her record collection....ols 78's.angel

well there is the collection of school stuff and memorabilia like that but I want to leave each of my boys a guitar amp that I have made, and hopefully a little car like the one I have for each of them too. They love to ride in it and I'm sure it would make for a fond memory of their dad. So I am looking for a little car like the one I have already and will fix it up too for my youngest.

Those are my only real goals before I die.
