rolling on the floor laughing OK. Although it really is a strange saying. No one says that over here. A good stalker would look that up for me and tell me about it ASAP....I score you 3.5/10 in the stalking difficulty category professor kiss

Interesting...maybe cause they make awful noises when they give birth? I remember my cat giving birth and it was actually quite a traumatic event..screaming and walking around trying to get the umbilical cord off...not very graceful looking.barf

It means to be worried or panicky about something, as in:

"Okay, don't go having kittens about it" or "d'ya know, I was having kittens there for a moment"..... not sure of the origin, you could probably Google it and find out??

Well, firstly, Twiggy, we Brits have so many ancient and, quite frankly silly, sayings and adages, that we can't possibly remember the origins of them all. And, secondly, I've never claimed to have a flippin' clue about what I was saying..............!! roll eyes rolling on the floor laughing

Yes...it's quite interesting how your phrases/words come to be such common terms...must be hard for immigrants coming over who don't have English as their mother tongue.

Yeah, for sure...really meant to say that it would be interesting to someone who didn't use English as a first language...I am trying to think of Canadian phrases that are strange to outsiders...hard to do when you are the insider! In Newfoundland people say "where you too?" which means where are you at...apparently it comes from somewhere in England a long time ago! You guys!

Tell me, Twiggy, 'cos I don't have long.......
"Take a rain check"?? I know what it means but where did it come from? How did it come to mean what it does??
Thanks, love. wave
