...i would do things this way". How many times we told ourselves this phrase. I strongly believe that the mentioned phrase lacks meaning. This is because the events we want to change are already DONE. The question "if i do this what will happen?" has a meaning BEFORE we do it. Let me give you an example. Let's say i go out for a walk and i see a car with a plate whosenumber is AXO 3455. And i wonder "what are the chances to meet a car with this plate number from all the cars that exist in my town?". This question lacks meaning. The question has a meaning before a meet the car. Then it has a meaning to calculate the probabilities of meeting the car. After the actual event happens the question is foolish. My purpose for writing this thread is to show people that it's not worth to worry with question such as "if things were different...". That way we can make our lives a bit easier.
"If things were different, humans would have mouths that were vertical rather than horizontal"
This is an illustration of how absurd what if statements are. Sure, if things were different, then they'd be different.
It kind of begs the question.
Pointless speculation like this amounts to mental m**turbation. Hours and hours of fun, maybe, but a complete waste of time if your purpose is to be productive.
Non taken. No it is open for discussion. I believe it's important because once and a while, when things turn out not as expected we ask ourselves "what if...?".
