Do you think the government has the right to tell you what you can do or experience? I mean they make pot illegal, is it wrong to tell you that you are forbidden to experience something in your life? They may just be trying to protect you but i think its wrong to say your forbidden to try something. Or the whole seatbelt debate, its mandatory to wear your seatbelt or you get a ticket, who has the right to tell you what you can do, me not wearing my seat belt is not affecting anyone but me.
Then they put advertisements on TV that dont even make sense. They said out of the 1250 fatal traffic accidents in alabama last year 550 of those were not wearing their seatbelts. Thats kind of stupid seeing as the people wearing them died more often than those who wernt.......
I think as long as your not harming any one else you shoudl be able to do whatever you want....its ur life....
Yea you can play it safe and not try things you might enjoy just so you can live longer.
But that whole thing is a quality life better, or quantity? Id rather live to be 45 and try everything fun at least once, than live to 80 and played it safe my whole life.
It comes down to Money, if they haven't figured out how to regulate it yet and make money off of it then they make it Illegal to Posses. Marij. for example is on the fast track to being legalized just a few more years and all the Governmental lies will be exposed with all the new studies that are coming out. There is too much benefit form the Cannabis plant to keep it shelved much longer.
I agree with Burt!! I am not one for over-ruling and over-regulating and most of us can conduct our lives in a fairly responsible manner without harming others. We, in the UK, are currently debating the "nanny state" issue. But, just look around you......... on a daily basis we see very good examples of those who simply cannot be left to their own devices. Even if you feel they should have that freedom, at least for the protection of the welfare of others, we do need measures in place and instill boundaries. The alternative would surely result, eventually, in a lawless society??
It is the speech that I held when I was 15 years old, my big rebel, anarchist time...
And even though some crumbs of this state subsist again...To live among the other implies to show the example to the youngest, that don't have the maturity to choose, nor to decide what is good for them.
To wear its seatbelt is a gesture that even the pilots of rallies adopt, as brilliant as they are when they are driving...
First of all, I'm 45, soon to be 46, so I've lived :) some life. The mandatory seatbelt issue is very debatable at best. It's true that many have died wearing them and I was in a headon car accident, when I was pregnant for my daughter, and flatly refused to have put the seatbelt on because it was an older vehicle and the belt was defective. Needless to say, we are both fine. As far as the marijuana goes, it should be decriminalized, not legalized, since taxpayers are hugely ripped off already on everything.
I think they should put a tax on it then they'd make a killing on it.. and i bet the price of marjuanna would drop cuz it would be easier to get.. they just need something to detect it so if the cops pull you over which should be easy enough to do..
The whole deal with mary jane is they dont think they can make money on it because many people can grow it themselves. But they dont realize most people wouldnt go through the trouble of growing it if they could go to the store and buy a pack. I mean people can grow their own tobacco too, but they dont. its much easier to just go buy a pack all ready rolled and everything.
In America drugs ARE taxed. Weed IS taxed. The government makes TONS off of it. They CAN'T make that money off of it in a true free market.
The war on drugs is a clear example. We spend a TONJ of money fighting that war but nothing gets done. The Coast Guard is still under funded and the DEA still boasts fewer busts than the coast gaurd.
It is all supplied by a political chain of command filled with deception and chaos.
