to my experience a language student in a foreign country is usually prepared to have at least the basics of the countries language ... and the most important is to live with people who only speak their language to them, well articulate and understandable - so they can learn the language in an easy way Its them who will walk with a translation wordbook to find out what its missing in their vocabulary - not you - so relax and them learn !
You will find plenty of help if there is a problem here and with the organization at any moment ..
I had many au-pairs in the past years - it never became difficult to overcome a language barrier
