open relationships (7)

I have been talking to this guy for a few weeks and we were making plans to meet. He then informs me that he is married and in an open relationship. I told him I was not interested and would not feel comfortable with that sort of situation. His wife then calls me and assures me that it is all right for me to see him. I was shocked I didn't know what to say. I thanked her for calling me and reassuring me that it was not a problem but told her I don't think I would be interested.

Is this kind of weird? How do I know this was really his wife? I am willing to try anything and have dated guys in open relationships before, but never married, and those have turned out fun while they lasted. And am still pretty good friends with these guys. But would i really want to get involved in something that involved marriage. I am thinking not. What's your take on open relationships?

Personally I haven't much against these types of relationships, and married couples like to play too. I know that often married couples will indulge in these relationships in an attempt to keep some spice in their lives, and can work. Yet there is a high possibility of creating jealousy, difficulties etc within that couple, married or not.

My opinion is not to risk someone else's marriage just for a little fun and pleasure.

Also if I had communicated with someone for that length and had arranged to meet, only to find they had been keeping something like that from me! I would have felt lured/tricked etc ....forget it, regardless.

Totally NOT for me. I don't like the idea of being an open relationship. I like the 1 on 1 commitment type of relationships!

This sounds like an affair, or an intimate encounter. You will never come first if there is a wife involved. Save yourself the heartache and find someone who wants a monogamous relationship. Especially in these times of STD
's.
