Before my eyes the hills unfold.
Mystic rivers in shaded vales,
Fairies dance as daylight fails.
Twilight creeps into the world,
Time, a worm, inside matter, curled.
The River Lethe is heartache's boon,
On its shores, will amnesia soon.
A broken heart, stretched on memory's rack,
Still, one way, forward, not back.
The eagle cries, and my heart is hot
The daisy tells me you love me not.
Weeping, steeping, like tea, in misery,
I remember, and shudder, at our history.
Love it was, although one-sided,
You, it seems, your heart benighted.
And pride, I think, led to my fall,
Thought to change the mind of a doll.
Ah, well, never fear, the path clears,
Down to the shores of the river of tears,
And, drinking deep, your memory fades,
And I pass through the gates of Hades.
