Fear of mice,
of disease ridden rodents
zipping up your pants leg,
of feeling those sharp little
claws on unprotected flesh.
Fear of spiders,
of suddenly feeling eight tiny
legs skittering through the
short hairs at the nape of your neck,
of that poisonous, flesh eating bite.
Fear of snakes,
of weeding strawberries on knees,
and suddenly looking fanged death
in the eye, of those cold coils slithering
around the leg of your snake bitten body.
Fear of night,
of walking to your dark door while
zombies haunt deep shadows, salivating
over your tender flesh. of leathery winged
death descending, of fangs at your throat.
Fear of death,
of your verminated body in
that cold barren ground, of your
soul facing the consequences
of that thing you did, of Satan
throwing open the Gates of Hell!
Fear is a convoluted puzzle,
an adrenalin pumping mind game
that you play with yourself.
Fear is self-grasping ignorance,
a form of self imposed suffering,
why fear what is yet to happen?
