I think I have heard it all since my marriage fell apart and my wife decided she didn't want to be married to me anymore. "You'll find the right one when you least expect it." "There's someone out there for everyone, you just haven't met her yet." "It will happen when it's supposed to happen." All of these are great cliches' but they don't really help you feel any less terrible or alone. Sure, there may be some truth to them but are they true for everyone? Not sure but I think that the law of averages would tend to favor not.
The best thing to do is what I did. Forget about it. Find something you like doing like a hobby for instance and throw your energy into that. I have adopted the approach that if I am meant to be alone, might as well just start getting used to it and if I find someone, it will be wonderful and my path will change again. You can't change the cards you've been dealt but you can find something to replace that empty feeling with something that makes you feel good about yourself again.
You are young yet, stop worrying about it so much. Wait until you get to my age and then you can worry. Hopefully by that time, the path you are supposed to be on will be clear to you and this will be just another memory of your early adulthood. If you aren't worried about it, it won't be a thorn in your side. If you continue to worry about it, you will just get worn down like a stone in a stream. it's all mind over matter. If you don't mind, it won't matter.
