Eat low-carb food for lunch. You will feel more awake. Post-lunch drowsiness is caused by your body being flooded with insulin to process that carb-rich lunch you just ate.
Secondly, avoid caffeine and processed sugars. (Caffeine gives you an energy boost, followed by a crash that is hard to recover from. Processed sugars are too easily absorbed by the body and tend to pass right through you, burning up quickly and leaving your body starved for energy.)
Don't eat too much. A small meal should not make you drowsy. Consider snacking on healthy food throughout the day instead of eating a lot at once.
Ahhh...Most of the times there's no chance of sleeping man!!! I work in between 14-16 hours a day, 7 days a week...and I've been struggling with this drowsiness after lunch so went to find out if I'm alone like that. But then I found this article on internet and came to post here.
I have tried to implement it for the past 3 days and YES, its working. No drowsiness and I'm active from morning to late night.
I went on a 1,200 calorie diet a few months ago, and instead of eating large meals, I eat something light about every 3 hours, switched to diet soda, and cut down on my sugar intake. I felt wonderful. I was never hungry, and I had more energy.
I quit watching what I ate the last 2 weeks and I can tell a difference already, so I started back (last night.) It usually takes me about 3 days to adapt to the schedule, but I know I will feel better.
