Dougie ... think we all have moments like this .... seems to happen late at night for me when I too am alone. I personally have found prayer does help me at this times and as well sometimes just simply crying and letting all those feelings come out. Reaching out to others helps me as well - makes me realize how fortunate I am to be able to do the simple things (I help out with seniors) ... always makes me feel good and they have become some of my friends now. Seems the older you get - the more important friendships become as they have lost so many people in their lives. Or course you sometimes have to listen to their list of aliments and its hard to get a word in edgewise! lol
Things do get better Dougie,been there.
Hang in there Doug! You are a lot stronger than you may realize, have faith in yourself!
When I'm in a "mood" I always resort to some favorite music to reset my headspace. Try "Fragile" by YES, or "Legend" by BOB MARLEY ...you just can't stay down listening to good reggae!

By myself, without a friend!
This empty feeling, deep inside.
No where to run, no place to hide!
My stomache burns, my heart it aches.
"When will this stop?", "For F@CK Sakes!".
Beating me down, day after day.
My nerves are so shot, don't know what else to say?
