Sorry to hear of your accident. On the other hand, the company policy for suspending anyone in an injury accident (although not sounding fair especially in this case) is just that--for the protection of the company. That gives them the total back-up of having taken quick defensive action to use should they be hauled into court, which protects not only them but you as well because their investigation should bring out the conclusions you already provided us. I would expect their investigation to be quick and thorough, so you'd be 'back in the saddle again' very quickly. Given the damage report you gave us, it could be the Safety Manager didn't ask about you being okay because he knew the obvious - it was a moot question. Sounds like the blow to your ego was harder than the blow to the car you hit. Keep your chin up and let us know what happens.
