Many folks are slow in rising.
It's weekend, and our time,
So if we sleep late, tis no crime.
Bright light shines through a pane,
And despite myself, I'm awake again.
The smell of nocturnal rain upon the wind,
Is a nice aroma for the day to begin.
Good morning wind, good morning sky,
Earthbound I am, I wish I could fly.
The joy of birds would burst forth in song,
And with the sparrow I'd sing along.
Tis beautiful, this green heavenly body,
Why do men have to treat her so shoddy?
Dig in her guts for bubbling crude,
If I was her, I'd think it quite rude.
And people wonder why disaster strikes,
Impaling people on earthly spikes,
Or striking down with a finger of God,
Tis Earth I say, giving us a prod.
Good morning wind, good morning sky
I pray ye, let me this day get by
With sin against my round Mother,
Unlike these fools, I still love Her.
