A unicorn without his horn, Is just another white horse. A leopard without his spots Is just a big yellow cat, Lazy, lying in a tree.
And she asked me To erase my spots, And I tried, but it Just wouldn't wash. These marks are indelible The scars of my life, Marked in permanent ink.
Tattooed by my battle scars I am a road map of many wars, I am a cat who claws the couch Spray me with water, I'll growl And then, gathering, crouch.
My words are my fangs, My verse are my claws, I grapple and struggle, And then, this cat withdraws.
I don't want to fight, But I'll not change a thing, I'm a leopard, with spots, A hunter supreme.
A lion can get me to retreat, But I've never met a Leo Who was interested in my defeat. All the other animals In the menagerie Want my coloration To be rearranged, But, this leopard Won't allow his spots To be changed.
