relaxin: i am curious about meditation, does anyone have any advise? good sites to go to or a method that works for them successfully. i am going to develop my aura reading abilities and i believe that deep meditation is one of mayor factors for better interpretations.

if youre serious about this check out vipassana meditation . . theres centers all over the world where you can go do a 10 day silent retreat. no talking, reading, writing or exercise for the whole time. its probably one of the most purest forms of mediation. you're up at 4.30am and meditating for around ten hours a day . . its hard . . really hard . .you think it'll get easier the longer you're there but it didnt for me . . i put it up there with giving birth!! but like giving birth its worth the effort. when i was in the thick of it i thought the idea of doing a second retreat was sheer crazyness . .but the moment i finished i decided i would return.

the retreats are by donation and you dont pay until the end of the ten days . . you give whatever you want to give. you get your own comfortable room and the food is healthy and delicious . . some days it was only the thought of breakfast the next day that kept me hanging in there . . "i'll just stay till after breakfast and then i'll leave" . . LOL!!!

just google 'vipassana meditation' in your area.

don't know if I would be able to keep silent for 10hrs uh oh and what about lunch and dinner?? if you only get breakfast then it will probably be easy to be silent for 10hrs.. I'll probably be passed out from starvation laugh and the 4.30am starts!! that is just cruel moping

lunch but no dinner . . only a cup of tea . . . which is why breakfast is so damn good . . second time around (which i'll do early next year) you only get breakfast and nothing after that.
and the silent thing was surprisingly easy (and i'm a talker!!)
it was more difficult to begin talking again after the ten days. somehow it just didnt seem necessary. i found the silence intensified my other senses and i became exquisitely sensitive to everything aorund me. the early starts were almost surreal but weirdy enjoyable (but i wouldnt want to do it in the winter . . brrrr!!!)
what i did find hard was not exercising and even harder was not being able to write . . . so much was happening for me on the inside and i wanted to remember it.
and after the first day or two i began having the most increrdibly vivid dreams . . .

and for a month or two after the retreat i had some amazing experiences . . i felt so very alive . . but thats a whole different story.

and yes theres no denying its hard.

sounds hard but very interesting!! I did google it. I have asked my friend if she wants to go to one of them with me early next year.. said I can either go to Qld and we go to the one in Pomona or she comes here and we go to the one in Woori Yallock. but it sure sounds like it would be a personally spiritually enlightening experience which can never be a bad thing thumbs up grin

I teach martial arts and meditation is part of our training.
There are so many different types and ways to meditate, I will only speak of what I know.

For us, its simple. We....
1. Sit in a quite area or room with little distractions.
2. Dim or lower lighting in the room if possible.
4. Get a mat, towel or something to sit on.
2. Get seated on floor sitting with legs crossed.
3. Rest your arms (below elbows)on your knees and relax.
4. Place your tounge up into the roof of your mouth& leave it there. This will keep your mouth moist & give a good connection for your Chi (energy).
5. Breath in and out through your nose. Take long inhales (5-6sec) and exhale (5-6sec), this will lower your heart rate and shut down the muscles slowly, making you relaxed.
6. Close your eyes and while continuing the breathing pattern, focus your sences on your heartbeat. This will focus your mind into one spot. When u can hear your heart beat, now start to focus your hearing outside the room. Try listening to the neighbour next door, or a dog barking.
7. After acheiving an external awareness, focus back onto your heart beat again. Do this a while longer and that ends that session. Do for atleast 5-10 min a day.

You will be very much aware of yourself and things outside of yourself. Stress will be shed very quickly my friend.
Try it and see for yourself.
