does anyone else freeze in terror at the sudden horrific thought of nuclear war? I mean, I'm laid back and out of sight is out of mind...but we've NEVER actually had a weapon exchange and everyone seems to have the means and it's only a matter of time....

Actually we have had a weapons exchange, albeit one sided, in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The thought of nuclear war is not as scary as it used to be, but with the bear waking up, things could start to get ugly again.

But MAD only applies to massive pre-emptive and retaliatory conflicts. Things at this stage will consist of limited exchanges, if any. No one country has the nukes that we used to have at the height of the Cold War to use or even contemplate MAD as a deterrent. You're right. It is just a matter of time, but it won't be on the scale your thinking of, and yes, the idea is still frightening as hell..uh oh

I think it is only unfair for the other species that live in this planet. It makes me sad because they are strange to our madness and smallness.
AS for myself my balls do not get frozen. One way or the other I will die one day and maybe the nuclear war might stop this slow process of my decaying by evaporating me in one mili-second!!!
I am serious when I say this.
