I was on the lakeshore. The water still, the sky gray. I was admiring the placid tranquility of the water's surface. I noticed my reflection as I gazed out onto the water. I took a closer look and I noticed that this person was different. The reflection I saw wasn't me. This person was confident and strong.

I tried to become the reflection, and I fell into the water. I felt I was being pulled away from the shore, far from safety and security. The water chilled to the bone. My clothes prevented me from swimming. I started treading water, being pulled farther and farther from the shore, until all I could see was water. And the grey sky. My muscles tightened and seized. I could no longer tread in the freezing water.

And as I went under the surface. All I could do was wonder why I wished to be anything but myself. The reflection that I saw was what lured me. Lured me from myself, into the cold depths. Where I would spend my eternity.
