fbd insurance give great deals, used to be a farmers insurance compnay but they are diversifying and are very competitive...also assumed you tried the AA?
The AA are by far the cheapest for older drivers with at least 5 years NCB. I got comprehensive for less than €500 from them while other companies were quoting me anywhere from 800 up to 2 grand!!!

insure.ie is the one i use, i have found them very good, the last quote they gave me was 300 so happy days there. good look with it
also make sure you ring them aswell
