Thought it might be a nice idea to contribute to CS by starting a new thread, maybe it has already been done?
How about doing a few lines on a person who you regard as your personal hero, outside of family etc. like a singer or movie star or general all round good person who maybe inspires you.
I'll make a start

My hero is a guy maybe older members may know. He's Jon Anderson the lead singer with Yes and has recorded some absolute classics with Vangelis (Chariots of Fire).
I have been a fan of this Group for years since I was 15 or so.
Why Jon Anderson?
(a) He has the most remarkable voice for a guy, almost an alto..but between the voice and his lyrics he continuously comes up with the most emotionally moving music I have ever heard.
(b) His ethos and beliefs are off Eastern/Buddhist persuasion based on Life, re-incarnation, and the wonderful capacity we as humans have for love.
(c) His relationship with his wife, Jeannie, is an inspiration. They are both in their 60's now but publically display their love and affection on and off stage. It so heartwarming to see them together as I was lucky enough to do in the Netherlands some years back

Anyway thats my piece. How about your hero's heroines etc,
Love & Light all

Hey there

welcome to the forums...

Am afraid I dont have a hero / heroine in the famous world

the only one i really have was my mother...

as far as i am concerned there was never and ever will be anyone to inspire me as much as she did....

her outlook on life was totally amazing..

Her ability to see both sides of a situation was also incredible even if she had an interest in one side it made no difference..fairness in all things...

and the love she gave us was the most impotant thing i carry with me every day since her death.. i can still feel it...

I know she wasnt famous.. but she sure was to me...

Good thread ..

I agree with BB.
Anybody that I have ever considered a hero has been someone I know or knew in my own life.
Just people who do everyday things and help others along the way.
I do admire some celebrities who give their time and money to charity but sometimes I think that it is easier for them than someone who is trying to keep a job, family etc. together but still find the time to help somebody out.

Thats a lovely thread and welcome to the forums.
The only person that springs to mind for me in Mr. Nelson Mandela. A wonderful person that never backed down in his beliefs and convictions and how much of his life he scraficed for the good of others. He is a wonderful beautiful man and considering how much he has been through is still so positive.teddybear teddybear

Thanks for continuing the thread guys...I could have said my late wife, who was a walking saint.
But felt this guy has something uniques and special despite the fact he could bail this country out on his earnings alone.
Thanks people handshake

Thank you "Ladylumps"hug and thanks for your support
Jon had hits with stuff like "I'll find my way home", "I hear you now", "And You and I" which he wrote for his wife, "Dont kill the Whale" and the most well known I guess,( and how appropriate) " Owner of a Lonely Heart". Do those ring a bell

Yeah, Mother Teresa was amazing. A hero in my books definitely.
I suppose that I have people I admire for certain things more than major heroes.
I think Rosa Parkes was great.
All slagging about Daniel O Donnell aside, I cant stand his voice..apologies to all fans and the man himself but I do admire his charitable work.
Recognize owner of a lonely heart...
Oh sorry for lightening the thread earlier...that BG....He made me do itblushing laugh

Hi Orion and thank you for the thread.

All he people named so far are great inspiration to us all and I thank you for making us think of these positive people and their works.

On a personal level, my daughter has always been a hero to me. At the age of 3 I was told she would never walk, talk or be able to look after herself.

Thankfully Zoe herself didnt believe that.

I watched her determination to do all of these things, copying her older brother, falling down to many times to count but always trying again. I saw the frustration in her eyes and witnessed the tantrums as she got bigger, I saw the intelligence in her and the frustration that she could not express this.
Always a fighter she is now 16 and going to mainstream school with learning support. A popular and outgoing girl who was maid form captain this year.
