I struggling with ideas as to where to take my two girls on a break for a week in June. They are aged 10 and 3 and I only see them at weekends etc so I would like to try to give them a decent holiday in the Sun, Spain, Portugal etc. The 10 year will be bored stuck with Dad all day so I need to come up with some fun for the demanding teenager :-) Anyone got any ideas as to how best to do that and still have fun yourself, or gone through that alreadyv?

The first time I brought my 3 away alone they were 3, 6 and 9.

I found a place in Spain that had a kiddies club. They were there for a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, giving me time to relax in the sun. Since it was a family place there were other families around in the evening so we all had company.

Okay here is a company that will may be an idea... Cantabrica or something similiar..

Camping and mobile home holidays in the South Of France and Spain..

The campsite in Antibes is right across from the beach, five minutes to old Antibes town...30 mins to Cannes, about 40 mins on the bus to Nice and it's airport...cheap flights with Ryan Air from Dublin to Nice....something for all of you to do and you have the sun to..

If you are into camping or mobile homes try Keycamp holidays, they organise morning and sometimes evening activities for children.

Good luck boy!

Hmm yeah they sound ok, but I was hoping for a bit of luxury and a holiday for me to rather than a camp site. kiddie club definitely but maybe baby minding service at night and a chance for me to do something solo like scuba diving during the day and a chance to go out for drinks etc, Am i dreaming? Should I get married lol :-)

Then you are looking at a hotel complex thingy, don't know if there are any that meet your needs, but I'm sure if someone here knows of one, they'll fill you in.

Best place I went to with kids was Santa Ponsa. Very family friendly. Most hotels/apartments have kids clubs.

Would be very nervous of getting a babysitter I don't know.
If you can afford it bring a sitter with you.

Otherwise bring kids with you at night. I used to walk around resort and back to hotel for the last few hours..kids fell asleep on chairs/sunbeds right beside me so I could keep them safe.

DO NOT make the same mistake as McCanns did.

sad but true hun. I was lucky that a friend of mine worked in the resort I stayed in and knew the girls that babysat for me. Other nights I brought the kids with me and they had great time, you have to just except that it is a different holiday to going without kids but if they are having a good time so will you.

If you are into something slightly different try Sunsail.com.uk where you will live on a charter yacht and learn to sail with prof staff... There are famillies of all ages and you will be able to socialise at night...

Ms 3 and Ms 10 might be a bit of a handful at the airport etc. Might I suggest an Irish hotel with a kids club or even two separate kids clubs, (I heard good things about Blarney Park Hotel, good Cork hospitality, you can't beat it)being mindful of food, language and support.
However, I would also suggest Fuerteventura as a very friendly family orientated resort. There last year, really good, myself and a 6 year old boy. If you want anymore detail, give us a shout...

Thanks Seventy, Cork would be great but I'm turning into polar bear its so long since I've got to the sun. Fuerteventura or nearby seems to be the ticket most are saying. Thanks for the tip J

I think you will find that a lot of package holidays have entertainment for kids of different ages, just have a search on the internet and who knows you may come up with something.

Believe you me as they get older they sure get bored more.....mine sure do with me, so now I have given up going on holidays with them, have cut the ties, but mine are much older than yours.

Good luck to you.

I agree with you, Wexford Lady, its important Killiney at the ages that yours are just to spend time with them and be a family unit all three of you as its the memories that mean the most to them and what they will remember.
