A poor person goes to get a job, even if it is McDonalds, Wendy's, or just about any factory in the United States, and has to get drug tested. He or she is only trying to feed his or her family. Don't you think it is time we drug test Lawyers, Doctors, Surgeons, Politicians, and Judges? After all they make the big decisions that we all have to go by. Would you want your Doctor or Surgeon to be drug tested before he or she operates on you or a member of your family? I would think that Insurance companies would jump right on this idea; after all they are the ones paying the Doctors. This is just something I was thinking about today; let me know your opinion?

Usually they do get drug tested. If they work for a corporation it can be totally random. Most times when applying for those jobs they get one before they are even hired. I know that a while back I changed my life, I went from working at a resturaunt for 4 years, and was never drug tested, which I partied all the time. I switched to a "business" desk job, and was sweating bullets at the interview, because they made me go that day and get tested. Needless to say, I failed, but the company was nice and put me on a temporary status. I havent made that mistake since, and am now fulltime. Our tests are totally random. Sometimes they are months apart or sometimes weeks. One time, they tested us, and two days later they tested us again. Some people lost their jobs that day. Guess they thought they were in the clear.
So, while I hear what you're saying, I guess I feel as though there are to many inconsistencies in the drug testing field. It should be all or nothing, no grey area. But if you make it mandatory to drug test everyone, which would be really expensive, it almost seems like that would be an invasion of privacy or taking away some of our rights as citizens. So, how do you make this fair?
If I may tell you what upsets me the most, are those people out there who are getting government aid. Drug testing should be mandatory for those people who receive money from the government. Within reason, of course. There should be records. The guy who worked in a factory and got impaled by a forklift and now is prescribed some serious drugs shouldn't have his financial aid taken away because he failed a drug test, the man is prescribed these drugs. However, if he tests positive for other drugs that he's not prescribed, such as heroin or cocaine then we have an issue. More so, I'm talking about the welfare families. The ones driving nice cars and don't have a legitimate job, just sit at home popping out children and collecting checks that our tax dollars go towards. There ARE people trying to do their part and work for a living who ARE being drug tested! Why are the people who collect government checks NOT being drug tested? If you can afford drugs (alcohol included)on a weekly or monthly basis, then you don't need a financial aid. Think about how much money this country would save if it was a requirement to get drug tested randomly to get government aid. I'm sure, though, that someone would argue that it's against our rights to do that. Sigh, where will it end? I enjoy my freedom, but sometimes I feel like others take advantage of it, and they're gonna eventually ruin it for the rest of us.
