Town and Villages (7)
The historic and picturesque village of Dirleton is situated three miles from North Berwick and forty minutes drive from Edinburgh. To the north, the sandy shores of the Firth of Forth and to the west, the village of Gullane and the famous Muirfield links, home to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers.
Dirleton Castle ( and gardens )
Begun in around 1240 by John De Vaux, the castle was heavily damaged during the Wars of Scottish Independence, when it was twice taken by the English.

North Berwick
The Royal Burgh of North Berwick is a seaside town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, approximately 25 miles east of Edinburgh. North Berwick became a fashionable holiday resort in the 19th century because of its two sandy bays, the East (or Milsey) Bay and the West Bay, and continues to attract holiday makers to this day. Golf courses at the ends of each bay are open to visitors.

What a wonderful country is Scotland.. I have to go back..
RDM
North Berwick is a great place, though I did live there when young.. and climbed the law countless times..
If you are able, see if they have trips round the Bass Rock as its full of seabirds and as nice as Dirleton Castle is, I prefer Tantallon, probably as it is right on the coast:
I like Tantallon Castle also, only a few miles further down the coast but it was starting to get dark.
Cleverly built to look impressively grand and large when viewed by attacking ships from the sea ( also from the landward side).
Very long but extremely thin, only about 10 meters wide.
Crafty or what......

"The chief historic attraction of Linlithgow is the remains of Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of James V and Mary, Queen of Scots, and probably Scotland's finest surviving late medieval secular building."
