Retired Group Forum

Retirement is a milestone in life. Freedom from the work environment allows time to be use for our own pleasure. Singles in retirement can have a hard time connecting with others outside a senior center. So if you are in retirement and still have some living to do, post away. For people who are retired or about to retire....

Hi FreshFilly
Welcome to the retirement group.

I do not look at the group as an age group but for people who are retired. Don't you feel sorry for people who never make it to retirement?
FreshFilly
Hi there and thanks for the welcome...don't know if i feel sorry for those who don't make retirment as i am one who would love to be able to still go to work. Then again if i had looked after my back properly maybe i would still be able to. Hope you are enjoying your retirement.

Hi everyone! Nice to see so many new members of this group! Last time, when I joined up there were only 4, now its )!

I dont realy know how this Retirement thing works .... As I was married a few times, and getting divorced left me with my suitcase of clothes and my wits to survive - Which I did!

I worked out that I had 10 years to make enough money to live on in my old age and set out to accomplish this, which is what I did.

I rather envy those who contributed all their lives to their secure pensions - without the trauma of starting all over again when you thought you didn`t have to!

But, I guess we all got different routes to travel thru life huh?bouquet cheers

Security.....

Divorce took the house and half of the retirement....Bummer!

Stock market crash wiped out over 50% of retirement.....Bummer!

Tumor in stomach turned out benign.......Hurray!

Life is what happens when you have plans.

I checked with my agent and he said that it was OK.

Hey Smokey,
To due choices i made at 53 i had nothing and had to start again. Was not a good place to be and unfortunatley due to physical problem was unable to return to work...i use my brain instead now and returned to study...that might give me a new area in which to at least get some casual or part time work....other than that it's a day at a time proposition for all of us and yes we have all got different routes to travel through life. Hope Your path is peaceful at last.

I went back to school at 47 -- earned my BA and and MA -- best thing I ever did. I've had four traumatic events (one was escaping from my burning home) and the trip of a lifetime (South America)in the past 12 years. My savings were blown by the high cost of health care for aging parents and the afore mentioned traumas...I find myself at 59 in the midst of an odd karma and amazing opportunity, and am about to dive into a new business that offers a healthy mix of creativity, monetary rewards and the opportunity to make still another mark with my life while still pacing myself physically. I volunteer (a lot) and mentor college age granddaughters and a grandson who who has found in niche in music. Every time I slow down, something else comes along to challenge me. And I respond. The single thread, though, that keeps me alert and alive are the myriad opportunities -- formal and informal, large and small -- for lifelong learning. If you listen to that little voice inside, you'll pick the right paths and pace. And with that comes peace.

Every hour of everyday is the journey and not where I am going. I can wait to enjoy this moment.... now is fantastic.
