Poetry Group Forum

This is a place where we can discuss new topics for poetry projects or challenges, talk about well known poets that we like - even Shakespeare! Hopefully by sharing our reading experiences we can expand our knowledge of poets and poetry and inspire each other. We could also use these pages to post 'How to' articles for new poets, ie How to write a particular form of poem, for example a Haiku, or e... read more

hurricane irene (7)

I'm worried. this storm might really be bad, particularly because the speed in which it is traveling is relatively slow. so when it's atop an area it just continues to wreak havoc...I have concern for everyone threatened in this vast area, multi states from n. carolina in the south traveling northward along the east coast all the way up to maine and canada. keep an eye out for our friend dave(agoodguytoknow), as he lives and works in the possible path of said storm. also I'm sure that many of our other poet friends are in harms way, in apology I just don't recall their names. also, it would be remiss for me not to mention my concerns for our island friends in the carribean. bahamas is under the gun as I type...it is projected that Irene will hit mainland US at the outer banks NC tomorrow...I am reminded that there is no such thing as a small hurricane...

Robert and I visited the outer banks NC last year and it is a very exposed landscape hedi, I hope the residents there will be alright. Robert lives in CT and is right in the path, he's told me he's picking up some supplies on his way home from work today - we keep joking about me having my first live broadcast from inside a hurricane - but we are both concerned for all those affected in this way. Let's just hope that people heeded the warnings and that nothing too awful happens from Irene's visit.

My sincere wishes that Providence minimises the effects of Hurricane Irene, and that everyone comes through the ordeal unscathed.

A very humanitarian write Hedi...

Roberts garden is littered with fallen trees, but being on a hill he didn't suffer from flooding and no damage to the house as the wind was buffered by trees on the side of the worst winds. I hope you are ok hedi too, though I was on skype and was able to follow much of it as it swept through New England I know some people were killed by power lines/fires and I believe some people caught in a boat or on a shoreline too.

lady, our home is two mountain ranges and over a hundred miles west of the storm's range. it was sunny here, little wind, with temps in the 80's. however, I have three sisters and their families that were threatened somewhat (all are fine). one lives about a mile from the west shore of the chesapeake bay in maryland. one in maryland, thirty miles west of the first, on the border of pennsylvania. the third lives in maryland between baltimore and district of columbia. good for robert and good for you!
