Poetry Group Forum

This is a place where we can discuss new topics for poetry projects or challenges, talk about well known poets that we like - even Shakespeare! Hopefully by sharing our reading experiences we can expand our knowledge of poets and poetry and inspire each other. We could also use these pages to post 'How to' articles for new poets, ie How to write a particular form of poem, for example a Haiku, or e... read more

There is no need to go any further here is how you post pictures directly into your poem.

Just go to post a comment and you will see a bunch of emotes to the left of the writing box over there --->

Scroll down below the big blue 'Click here for more Emoticons' to the small black writing and 7 items down there is this

[ img ] imageURL [ /img ]

lightbulb (I had to put in extra spaces to put this here and you will see when you go to copy it, it looks shorter. You can copy this one but it won't work unless you take out the extra spaces!)lightbulb

you copy it and post it in the box where you write your poem to be posted above or below your poem, wherever you like.

Then remove the writing 'imageURL' from the middle

You have to have your image ready on line at some place like photobucket or your website. Go to your image and copy the image URL - if you right click on the image it gives you this option in the grey box. So you have the image URL copied and you go back to your poem.

Where you took out the 'imageURL' writing from between the two sets of brackets you paste in your own image URL by a left click and choosing 'paste'.

You can check you've done it properly by previewing your poem, if it's right - great, if it's not check all the above steps and make sure you've done it right.

lightbulb ONLY FOR IF IT DIDN'T WORK

Ok so it didn't work,
lightbulb Is it too big?
This is one reason I post images on my own website for use in here because I can control the size of the image. You can control the size of the image on most image upload sites when you have an account there and the basic accounts are mostly free. I think you can use the URL of images posted on facebook but I've never tried that. You can also post the URL of images that you have posted here on CS, on your profile page or in a blog I think.

lightbulb Did it not appear at all?
You may not have copied the URL properly, the best way to copy an URL is by right clicking with your mouse on the image and choosing 'copy image URL' or you may have tried to copy an image from your computer - that won't work, it has to be an on line image with an URL
or - the image may have been removed from the site you got it.
That's another reason I chose to use my own website - I know if and when I remove an image so no surprises.

lightbulb Anything else?
Contact me here on mail or on a poem, if I don't know the answer to your question I'll know someone who does and pass on the query. Have fun!
