Disney did not market this movie right but John Carter is a good adventure, science, fiction, and fantasy genres. It is a movie that transcends two worlds: Barsoom (Mars) and earth.

The John Carter (of Mars) book was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs along with a series of books mostly wrapped around A Princess of Mars who is also a Warrior.) Burroughs wrote many other book series besides the Mars series, Including Tarzan series, Pellucidar series, Venus series, capac series and many more series.

I read all of Edgar Rice Burroughs novels while growing up. I would love to have met him.

As a child, I was a huge fan of the John Carter Warlord of Mars books. The movie was a complete disappointment. They took a great story and ruined with politically correctness.

I think that it is sad how you feel about the movie. I rather enjoyed it. There is nothing like one's own imagination while reading imho though. My favor Burroughs series is Pellucidar. I can't recall who did the artwork on those books, but they are great! I would glance at the covers artwork, put on my headphones and easily get immersed in any of the Pellucidar series books.
