HER LOVELINESS I NEVER KNEW !
Author: Elizabeth Barrett Browning. 1806-61, British Poet
Her loveliness I never knew,
Until she smiled on me,
O then I saw her eye was bright,
A well of love, a spring of light.
I am not old, but mellow,
Like a good wine.
My age is lusty, frosty,
but kindly.
All love, all liking, all delight,
Lies drowned with us in endless night.
Our heart to heart,
and mind to mind,
In body and soul can bind.

About this poem:
I am a mental health professional. I enjoy literature, Shakespeare and poetry. I am a poet. When I wrote this poem, I was thinking of love of my life Diana. The poems of Elizabeth Barrett Browning expressed my eternal love, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the length and depth and height, My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight; For the ends of Being and ideal of Grace. I love thee to the level of every day's, Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God chooses, I shall love thee better after death.
