Looks that way. The countries that stayed out dont seem to have had any adverse reaction to doing so. At least you control your own destiny to a point financially
biggles90000: Ok ladys and gent did Ireland make a mistake by transfering over to the Euro what are your views on this?
Im definatly no authority on money...
But wasn't the euro doing ok before the economic crash. ... Sure, Greece, Portugal and I expect Italy had there own problems, but as i recall, in 2006 we had gigantic cash surpluses... Have I got the wrong end of the stick... Seems like the euro was a victim of global economic circumstance...

Honestly Biggs, I dont know...
I moved out here tail end of 2002, by which time you had moved currency...Im my times with the punt (holidaying) I would hardly have been minding the pound / punt exchange rate...
When i moved over stg/euro was 1 quid/1 euro 50... Or 66 pence to the euro... Obviously, with travelling ive seen the euro devalued so i guess a part of the answer is there... Yes, the euro is not the "sure thing" it was say 5 years ago...

if u went into a shop now with 20e u wudnt have much change coming out ...its getting more expensive for food shopping this week i managed to nuckle down my shopping to 50e and ive enuf of food cooked 2day to last me until wednesday ..
I remember in first year in college back in 2003 when we used to go out to the student nightclub 20pounds used to do me a night u would need at least 50e or more now to have a good night out
if we hadnt joined international trade probably would have been next to impossible we wouldnt have been well paid for our products and would have cost a lot to purchase the sterling is not really a good example as its not worth piss really compared to yesteryear...but saying that i voted no to lisbon and the powers to be in the eu make me sick
