I suppose when it comes to choosing a potential partner age is a screening tool, So in that case I guess it does matter 
Any woman on planet earth that is 30 years or older is more that ideal for a man at any age her senior! I happen to like and prefer women in my age group (47 and over..), but if I were to meet a woman that is even 25 yrs and mature and sober, I can assure you that I am all for it... And many young ladies are also mature beyond their time, while many older women are immature and childish!
