but a car is so much more than the value or sticker price. It is freedom, a journey, an adventure.... I guess you can say a marriage is that too?

Trust me, but some very interesting places to be at are not in the google earth-maps and for that a 4X4 off road vehicle is needed and your partner can not be of any help there.

I have a Land Rover. They can go anywhere you send them.
If I was to go that far off road, I'd rather cycle, as we could enjoy the views, rather than one of us concentrating on not getting stuck.

It's not cheap to run here, either. The Government is trying to tax everyone off the roads. Cycling off road is better, as you get a good workout at the same time. There's also the added bonus of getting where cars can't reach.
I don't know what you mean by "Grotto", as I can't get Santa out of my head now.
