Be direct and say hit the road...if I want to escape...I certainly don't want them in my life as a friend...I am not into smoke screens...I am into being real....I probably would wish them well too...just not with me....no I would not say anything or do anything to make them dislike me...that's being a coward and taking the cowards way out....

i have never needed or wanted to escape from anyone befor ,
but i dont know if anyone wanted to escape from me

The question says "escape them". That implies several things...all negative. The direct and honest approach is almost always going to be best except perhaps when you don't don't want to hurt someone's feelings. Even so, you can almost always be honest with someone without hurting their feelings. You just have to be a little diplomatic.

I've always been direct about it. Still doesn't help, though. I have two people semi-locally I've dated from here, and I've had to block both, even. I'm still trying to figure out how anything about "Never contact me again" can be misconstrued to mean I want to hear from them in the future.

Honesty is best. There will be hurt feelings, no matter what you say or do. But I prefer to have someone tell me that it is not working rather than lie to me about it. I also would tell someone how I am feeling as well.
