"all men are born equal, but some are more equal than others"!
Have been listenin to da radio discussions on the topic today....why immediately annoyed me was the focus on experience of this problem at management level....eg the upper echelons of big business and large concerns......ok its prob a very clear example..but what about the vast majority of us pleb workers...who just battle along?...men and women......many of whom may not ever have the opportunity to be promoted..... coz mabbe theyre working for smaller local units...etc
Wot I'm saying is that the media seem to think that work= office job.....what about da rest of us?
Whilst it was interestin to hear the stats on who had 3rd level qualifications etc.. management of course are making the decisions, but the country is primarily carried by blood, sweat and tears of whats known as your average joe and josephine soap.
I hate the terms unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled etc
In my working life, Ive met some incredible ignorami....highly educated but still bloody ignorant...
I believe that given our culture and our nature and the fact that we are a small island nation, we'd serve ourselves better to encourage small indigenous enterprises....and become less dependent on large faceless, soul less multinational organisations....they too often destroy individualism, damage the local culture, impose their own "values"-many of which are anything but life enhancing.....and are breeding grounds for bullying and intimidation...they never truly assimilate...and when the goin gets tough, theyre outa here....leaving behind a trail of diseaster

Nearly 45 years later, women are still paid less than men, even with similar education, skills and experience.
Another note: Women are going to make-up 65% of the workforce by the year 2020...
