I have a passion for gaming- I also aim to make a living from computer games. Not quite sure doing what exactly because there are a lot of avenues to go down in the game indusrty, but it is one of a few billion $ industries so whatever you are told by others you can make a good living from this. I have recently learned web coding, next i shall go onto game design, but im not sure whether to do it at college for free or payover £4000 for a national qualification with train 2 game. Any thoughts any1?
Hey ther blackwolf99, I work for Train2game and thought i'd give you some facts about the courses we run that may help you make a decision.
The benefits of taking a course with T2G.
Students can learn while working full time at times that work for them – be that very early in the morning or in the middle of the night. So the course give you the freedom to study when you choose
Unlike Uni student are also allocated to a tutor team who will remain with the student throughout the entire course and can be contacted 7 days a week.
Studying for a degree costs on average of £4300 per year for tuition fees alone but as about 80% of Uni students don't live at home, to make a fair comparison, you need to include living costs. The London School of Economics estimates that students’ living costs are a minimum of £1000 per month. There is financial support also available to students.
Finally if you do decide to go for the Train2game courses there is a ‘cooling off’ period of one month and cancellation requests received in this time are processed automatically, with no questions asked.
Ok well good luck with your decision and i hope this was helpful to you and if you have anymore questions pls don't hesitate to ask.
I'm an avid gamer too. Growing up I remember playing on my dad's Atari 2600 and Colecovision(great graphics for the time and with an add-on could play atari games as well). I remember working all summer so I could buy my first game system(a NES! ). Throughout my childhood I played Atari, Coleco, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sony Playstation(1&2)[my favorite], Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox(original), and recently the Nintendo Wii. I really want to get a PS3 though. My friends have MS Xbox 360s already and I already have a Wii so once I get a PS3 we'll have all of the newest generation of consoles ! I find myself not playing as much now as when I was younger though. I think as you grow older you generally find other things to do that you like as well. Also if you're working most of the time or are a student you'll tend to not play a lot of video games just for the simple fact that you just don't have enough time for it. I am trying to find out info into a possible job/career in video games(as a tester, designer, programmer, or something else). I'm gonna start a poll called Which genre of video games do you like best?Come and vote in it! Here's a photo of a cat with a controller...it's a great photo.
I get bored...I used to play a little Wolfenstein, Tomb Raider etc. but nowadays I only sometimes do flightsimulation with X-Plane and FSX. ( mostly on Linux )
I still have the old Nintendo NES system.. Fav games on it is Zelda, Rygar, Metroid, and Dragon Warrior 1-4. Some of these old games are quite expensive now.. I collect the games, as long as they are complete in box with all paperwork.
