I see a day when paper books will become a thing of the past. Our schools are doing away with books and using the computer. As resources (trees) dry up and the green movement takes a bigger hold fewer and fewer books will be made. The Tech world is not going to slow down. In the small town I live in book stores are closing every day. The resale book stores are not doing well either.
I see another reason for books to go by the way side. While in France I wanted a book to read at night, I could not find one written in English. With an electronic reader I could have taken several books with me. The same goes for people who are traveling anywhere and like to read.
They may not disappear in the near future but I have lived long enough to see music go from a large flat black disk (record) to a small 1"x1" metal box and hold 3000 songs.
I don't think there is one company producing a paper set of encyclopedias.
