Yes, some people do have personal reasons why they don't post their pictures; could be something simple as the job they are in or just they are shy. If you like the someone communicates with you; ask them for a picture on a private email.
This is true what you say. Myself I stand guilty of that. I love no one but however I wouldn't use them. I do love money as I need it to survive but don't need love to survive.
