Well I think it is a complex interplay of one's instincts and mind controlling, or shall I say "driving" or "influencing" their decisions, etc...... I don't think there is an absolute answer for this............However, you can also equate different parts of the brain as controlling, enabling certain thoughts, actions, movements, etc.........
I agree with Jim that usually good deeds go unnoticed. I think small acts of goodwill happen daily and the best that we can do is continue to pay it forward. Random acts of kindness can go a long way and there is something contagious about vicarious learning....
